Making the human climate for
innovation visible and manageable

Talk with us

What is the Explorer Index?

It's a survey-based tool designed to help teams understand how their working environment supports - or holds back - their ability to explore, experiment, and embrace change.

Who is this for?

The Explorer Index® is designed for any team, from leadership to operational, looking to create a more exploratory working environment.

For newly formed teams, teams undergoing change or aiming to scale innovation, the Explorer Index provides insight into climate dynamics and readiness for change.

How does it work?

Our methodology is rooted in behavioural science and focuses on four key dimensions: Curious, Connected, Confident, Committed

We measure how well a team is set up to share ideas, solve problems, and create more exploratory climates.

The Dimensions

Where innovation startsSafety to exploreEmpowered to actDelivery of outcomes
Curious

Curious

Curious means being open to questions, exploring ideas, and looking at problems in new ways. The team learns from experience while trying new approaches to find better solutions.

Connected

Connected

Connected means feeling included, respected, and supported as part of a team. There is trust, open feedback, and a shared sense of purpose, allowing people to speak up, support one another, and contribute their best ideas.

Confident

Confident

Confident means feeling empowered to speak up, share and explore ideas, challenge the status quo and take risks. It's about actively contributing to change initiatives and trusting self and the team's ability to make solutions work.

Committed

Committed

Committed is about the relentless pursuit of turning ideas into reality. The team takes ownership, stays focused, follows through and adapts when things change to ensure ideas are formulated.

What is our process

01

Onboarding & Survey

Understand the Explorer Index and what it measures, followed by a short anonymous survey to encourage thoughtful, honest responses

02

See the big picture

Survey results reflect the team's perception of their working environment, which are shared during the Team Review Session

03

Talk about what matters

The team agrees on which aspects of the report to focus on to create a more exploratory climate

04

Build better habits

Check-ins, team coaching and regular "pulse" surveys show the team where the shift has happened and how their input is shaping an exploratory climate

How are we different

It focuses on innovation readiness, not just engagement

It sees the team as a system, not just a sum of individuals

It turns insight into action, fast

It's built on behavioural science, not trends

Unlike other tools which mostly focus on general behaviour of either the team or the individual. The Explorer Index zooms in on the individual perceptions within the team dynamic.

What the people say

Working with the Explorer Index has given our team a much clearer understanding of how our team performs individually and collectively and where the biggest opportunities for growthlie. By reviewing the Explorer Index survey results together, with the help of the innovation coach, we've been able to identify the specific behaviours and conditions that support a more exploratory mindset for the entire team.

This shared insight has helped us focusour development efforts for the year ahead, ensuring we're targeting the areas that will have the greatest impact. The Explorer Index has enabled us to begin work so that we can move towards a more open, curious, and innovative environment for the team.
